These are examples of a branding project by the design studio Minga.
The font used is Bodoni.
There is a nice elegance and unity between all the elements and through the campaign.

Sarah Coleman

These are examples of works by the artist Sarah Coleman.
I'm very drawn to her style. Most of her lettering looks to be hand-drawn which I admire.
She has a great flow and emotion in all of her pieces.

project 2 - research

This is a logo I found for a wedding photographer. I like how the O's are used to represent wedding rings. It's simple but effective.

This is an old advertisement that was painted on the side of a building.
I really like the simplicity of the text on this ad. The only real embellishment to the font is the extended strokes of a few letters. It helps add interest to the text without being too much.
The font is a sans serif. It kind of looks like a condensed and stretched version of Gill Sans.

This is a photo I took of a casino sign in Iowa.
Casino is a san serif, it looks like Impact.
Catfish Bend is a script font. It looks similar to Brush Script with some modifications.
I really like the contrast between the flowing script of the top of the sign with the sturdy strong san serif of casino.

I found this piece in an Illustration and Design Workbook I rented from the library.
It was done by Laura Cedar. I was drawn to the script font especially in the ones to use words to make up an object like the heart and the tree.

This is a type treatment for a spread in GQ magazine.
The designer used Lil Wayne's tattoos as inspiration for the style shown.
I liked this example because of its use of hand lettering instead of just digital fonts.

ITC Lubalin Graph

Created by: Herb Lubalin

ITC Lubalin Graph was created in 1974 by Herb Lublain for the International Typeface Corporation. It’s design was based off of Lubalin’s previous typeface design of ITC Avant Garde Gothic. His new design for Lubalin Graph featured the same geometric characteristics as his previous work, but with the additional feature of slab serifs. There are equal weighted strokes, perfect circle round shapes, and rectangular serifs. Lublin Graph is an Egyptian style font. Herb Lubalin was a New York designer known for his groundbreaking innovations in typography. His work broke traditions and redefined what was possible in typographic designs.
